About:

Hi! I’m Rook. Or Madam Rook. Or Rookie Cookie. Or Rookironi. Honestly, my foster mom comes up with a new name for me whenever the mood strikes, so I answer to just about anything as long as it’s said nicely.
I’m a gorgeous tortoiseshell girl, about a year old, with a cute, quiet, slightly raspy little meow. I’ve already been a mom—yes, I was a teen mom—but my kittens have all grown up, gone off to their own homes, and are doing just fine. Now that my mom duties are behind me, I’ve officially reclaimed my kitten energy, and I am having an absolute blast with it.
I LOVE to play, run, jump, explore, and generally be involved in whatever you’re doing. If you’re in a room, I want to know what’s happening in that room. If you’re doing something interesting, I would like to participate, please.
And when I decide it’s time to RUN? Oh, you’ll know. Have you ever seen those cartoons where a character takes off running so fast that their legs spin in place before they actually go anywhere? Yeah. That’s me. Sometimes the zoomies simply take over.
I’m also a serious little explorer. I like checking out all the places, especially if you happen to be in one of them. I love crawling under couches, dressers, beds, and side tables, then waiting for the perfect moment to pounce on a toy, a shadow, or even a mysterious puff of air. Nothing is safe from my investigative skills.
My favorite toys are the ones that chirp or have feathers. But there is one toy that holds a very special place in my heart: my emotional support cucumber.
Yes, you read that correctly.
While I was pregnant, I had a stuffed catnip cucumber that I absolutely adored. It was my head pillow, body pillow, entertainment, kicker, and general source of emotional support all in one. I would pick it up and carry it around to a new lounge spot several times a day. We had a very serious relationship. I still think every cat should have a cucumber like mine.
There is one thing my foster mom wants you to know about me: I used to be an outdoor cat before I got pregnant, and I am still VERY interested in the great outdoors. So if you’re leaving the house, you may want to put me in another room first or have some sort of kitty airlock situation. A screened-in sunroom, perhaps? I’m just saying, I have ideas.
My foster mom has also figured out that I’m quite happy hanging out on top of a bookcase, especially when it’s connected to some conveniently placed cat shelves. She’ll put me up there before she leaves the house because, for whatever reason, I rarely decide to jump all the way down to the floor from the top. I guess even I have limits to my adventures.
I can live with other cats, but I’ll need a LONG adjustment period. I’m not exactly a pushover, and I don’t take much sass from anybody. Honestly, I might be happiest as your one-and-only girl, where I can have all the attention and nobody else is getting in the way of my important activities.
I do well with children, but older kids who understand that I sometimes need a little personal space would probably be the best match for me.
When I’m ready to settle down, I like sleeping wherever you are. I tend to stay closer to the ground most of the time, although windows are also excellent because BIRD WATCHING IS THE BEST. Every once in a while, though, I’ll decide to explore the vertical real estate and take to the higher spots.
And if you really want to win me over? Tuna Churu. I go absolutely nuts for those.
I’m playful, curious, funny, affectionate, and just a tiny bit mischievous. I’ve raised my babies, and now I’m ready for someone to let me be the young, silly, energetic cat I never really got to be.
So… are you looking for a Rook? Madam Rook? Rookie Cookie? Rookironi?
I’m pretty sure I can work with whatever you decide to call me.
